I ordered some sandals for a birthday present, and delivery was missed by a week or so. This was largely due to their website inserting a completely incorrect postcode (different county to mine) which I was unable to correct. Their site also made it impossible to insert my house name (field much too short).

I sent them a message within minutes after the order asking them to correct this, but they failed to do this, hence a huge delay while package was delivered many miles away.

Birkenstock tried to make me correct the postcode with UPS, despite it being their problem.

This is one of the worst online shopping experiences I've ever had - all due to a broken input form for the address, which is very basic and could easily be fixed.

Birkenstock does not stand behind their products. I bought a pair of sandals from them and the footbed cracked after only three months of wear. They claimed it was from west not a defect. I've never had any pair of shoes wear out after only three months of wear. Shame on you Birkenstock!

Credit where it’s due. I ordered shoe cleaner but when it arrived I decided I didn’t need it anymore. I returned the whole order straight away (two items). It took birkenstock 8 days to process my order but when I received the emailing confirming the processing of my refund, only one product was refunded. After reading the reviews, I started to think I’d never see the rest of my money or the shipping cost. But when I contacted customer services, the lady sorted it for me right away and the rest of the money was refunded to me the next day. Not bad but still annoying. If it was a pair of Birkenstocks of a larger value I would have been extremely panicked that they wouldn’t have taken my word for it.

Ordered with delivery expected within 3-5 days, two weeks later still no package. The rudest customer service team on the phone ‘have no idea when it’ll be shipped’ and suggested I ask for a refund. Had to fill out a form to get a refund like seriously are we in 1990!!!! No idea when it’ll be refunded as they never reply to emails… DO NOT ORDER

ordered oiled leather iron colour. Colour looks completely different than the photos. I know things look different in pictures however, this is more of a khaki colour rather than the very cool pictured colour. There's a big darkness difference as well.

First of all, I'm a first time buyer of these sandals. I've had the most horrible experience with them. Horrible customer service, no apology, no sympathy, nothing. Purchased £500 worth of sandals in the end (after being advised to do so to try on the perfect fit.) Orders 2 pairs and returned them, still haven't received the refund, was told 14 days plus 8 days for a refund to go back. Ordered 4 more pairs and the one pair I wanted to keep were broken. White glue was on the black leather and the strap were ripped, called customer service to inform them was told to order a new pair. Another £96 including £16 express delivery paid. Was told I would get a refund for the express delivery, since I was told "you don't get a £10 off for being a new customer, you can either have the £10 off or the £16 refund for delivery." Considering I didn't get to keep any of the sandals, their customer service are certain I can't have my £10 off back. The most awful customer service, no apologies, and was very rude over the phone. Please do not buy from Birkenstocks directly, go elsewhere where they have a much better customer service!

I too had a problem with the delivery address. Using an indirect payment method which showed my house no. The delivery address on their system did not show it. So parcel Force just tried twice to deliver despite me phoning and telling them. Customer service - had phone put down on me. Between them and Parcel Force rubbish. I have reordered another pair and checked the house number appeared on the delivery address as I couldn't buy elsewhere. Got everything crossed I get a refund for the first pair and I get the 2nd pair ok. Wouldn't recommend this company. Very shoddy.

Do not buy online. I wish I had read reviews of this company before I ordered. I am £200 out of pocket and I despair of ever getting a refund. The courier damaged my order and I had to return the shoes. Apparently, they now have to go back to Germany before I "might" get a refund. There is no escalation, if you ring they are rude and abrupt on the phone. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am going to have to try the small claims court to get a refund.

Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ordered 2 sandals and they have not been delivered month later. I clicked same address as invoice address and their system incorrectly but wrong address. Rang 4 times to be told no refund until sandals returned. No escalation route had phone out down on me and no desire to help given sandals stuck at depot. Never felt so upset over an issue in my whole life.
